Undergraduate Student

Sophie Harthcock is an undergraduate Biology major with minors in Genetics and Psychology. Her research interests center on genetic variation and its role in shaping phenotypic diversity. In the Chakraborty Lab, she performs single-fly DNA extractions and investigates how transposable elements in geographically diverse Drosophila melanogaster populations contribute to genomic variation patterns. She is particularly interested in how these genetic differences influence observable traits and evolutionary processes.
